These wing-shaped earrings are based on the shape of a maple seed, or samara. They  are handmade of bronze and ornamented with hand-cut and carved overlay pieces to form the design. They are hung from gold-filled leverback ear wires and attached with bronze wire. Because they are made one at a time, they will vary slightly. The wing itself is 43mm in length. The stone is a 5mm labradorite set in sterling silver.

  • To make these earring dangles, I employed a technique called “metal clay”. I used finely-ground bronze (an alloy of tin and copper) mixed with a binder so that the material could be sculpted, then kiln-fired to burn off the binder, leaving only bronze behind.
